Last week Google Labs released its new accessible search for the visually impaired. It’s about time one of the search engines took accessibility seriously and I applaud Google. With an estimated 45 million blind people and 135 million visually impaired people worldwide let’s hope the other search engines follow suit and add their own accessible search.
If you’re a frequent forum visitor this is probably old news, since it happened all of a day ago, but for those of you that aren’t active on forums the latest toolbar PR update has started at Google. Along with the PR update Google is updating the number of backlinks they’ll show for your site as they usually do at this time.

In case you missed it Google released a few new search products yesterday. Google Co-Op, Google Trends, Google Desktop 4, and later this week Google Notebook. Each in it’s own way may contribute a little something to search engine optimization, but it’s the first two I mentioned that I would like to talk about here.
