You hit the spot on the creating backlinks part which plays a big role in online marketing. You left out the importance of content though in the internet frontier.

Thanks John. I think live chat can be very useful, though it depends on how it’s implemented. For example when it’s there as an option I’ve often used it to answer a question I couldn’t find on the site.

On the other hand when the site initiates the chat I don’t care for it. I don’t like the feeling that someone is watching me and I find it more an interruption and hindrance than a help. I tend to leave sites quickly that initiate the chat.

But I agree live chat can be useful if implemented right. Let me find my way around the site first and provide me the option to talk to a live representative.
