Toivo I haven't had a chance to really check out SEO Yak yet, but I do like the concept and I plan and looking at it in depth as soon as I can. Hopefully you'll be seeing me as a member there before too long.

Looks like you've been building some traffic and I do see topical posts there on the front page and some familiar faces doing the posting.

I don't have a problem with sites like Digg trying to prevent being manipulated. They should work to keep people from gaming them. And I know a lot of SEOs have been writing things solely to get dugg.

The problem to me is in letting a few diggers decide an entire industry is spam and deserving of being banned. Not all seo and marketing related sites have been banned, but it looks like some diggers would like to see this happen.

Some of the urls that are now banned are not at all spammy and have never tried to manipulate Digg. And for those that are banned there should be some at least be some way to get the ban lifted. Maybe a warning first and later a ban.

I see Digg as being run not by the site creators or democratically by all its users, but by a group of immature diggers who get off on the power they have. I think there's a lot of danger in that for Digg. The SEO world will survive as will the web in general, but if Digg starts to exclude one industry after another it can find itself become irrelevant to most of us just as fast as it became relevant.

I guess any topic or company has a chance of being banned from any social website, when it tries to spam/control it. Does anyone like being controlled?

So, in essense, the "How to get dugg" articles have told the Diggers that they are being manipulated and they didn't like it. That being said, it doesn't stop someone like Rand practice Digg-baiting efficiently (he did say he got 50 stories to Digg this year).

I don't claim to have a lot of experience with Digg. I doubt I've ever been dugg and I really don't visit the site. But it seems to me like the idea behind the site is to be completely democratic and let the users decide what they like and don't like. In reality it's not so much democratic as it is controlled by a small group of diggers who are making the rules for everyone else.

It's interesting that I see many in the seo community still embracing Digg, while others are very much against the site. Maybe the division is based on who has gained more traffic from the Digg site.

Matt I've already decided when I redesign the site I plan on adding the usual bookmark this page links and icons with the exception of Digg. Will they care? I doubt it, but if they don't want seo related sites then I see no reason to include their link.

Paula it's great that your traffic has increased after having domains banned. I see you wrote your own post about it too. Funny how things work sometimes. By the way I like the writing in the blog you link back to here.

Amen!

I think the DiggNation has too much time on their hands and evil intent in their hearts. They banned two of the URLs from the blogs I write, but the controversy has only served to increase my traffic. Thank You, God!!!!!

If the digg system really worked they wouldn't have to ban sites.
I thought the idea is that people get to vote, Guess not.

I hope the SEO community continue to make noise about this. It shows that digg are not anything like the "democratic" site they claim to be.
