Have to agree - Firebug is amazing!

With regards to writing stuff, I'm yet to go through all your articles so not sure if you've not covered something I'd like to know abuot. I was looking at your 2-column layout tutorial yesterday though and having difficultly grasping something. I'll re-read and leave a comment there if I've still got confusion.

Thanks again,

Firebug is cool, isn't it? There are extensions on top of it too. Browse the extensions at mozilla or maybe search for things that start with fire. A couple I have installed are Fire php and Fire Cookie

I still use Chris Pedrick's toolbar a lot. Not so much for any specific feature, but rather because I'm used to it. I guess for some things it's nice not to have Firebug take up the extra real estate.

Lately I've been working more in Safari. Firefox is sometimes way to slow for me. Safari has something similar (though not quite as robust) as Firebug built in. Safari doesn't have anywhere near the tools Firefox does though. I tend to have both of them open all the time and I bounce back and forth between them depending on what I'm doing.

I usually have developer tools in every browser I open. Firefox still has the best tools overall, but I don't always need every tool. I usually pick the tool that works quickest for me at the moment.

Thanks for the compliments on the site. Is there anything you'd like to see me write about? I'm always open to suggestions.

Just installed Firebug. Looks really good. I'm manipulating the DOM with Javascript and currently using alert() calls to check the HTML after manipulation. Firebug will save a lot of time inspecting the HTML. I'm sure that it'll help in lots of other areas too!

Thanks for the pointer!

Do you find much of a use for Chris Pedrick’s web developer toolbar now that Firebug is available? If so, for what features?

Love your site BTW!!

Thanks PUK. Firefox is great for development. There are so many plugins that can help. Keep in mind this post is a couple of years old now so there are newer extensions that you'll probably also find useful.

If you don't already know about it, look for Firebug. It's become the choice for web developers debugging their websites and there are lots of extensions for the Firebug extension itself.

I'm developing a web application. I've been testing it in IE7/8. These add-ons are brilliant and I'm going to take your recommendations and use Firefox to assist with my development from now on...

Thanks!
