Hard to know without being able to see your code, but it might be that the class names have changed. I just looked at the WordPress.org site and I'm seeing class="current" instead of class="current_page_item" I haven't had a chance yet to jump into 3.3 and get to know any changes. Usually everything will still work after an upgrade, but naturally things will change here and there. Visit a page on your site and view the source code through your browser.
